Young Adult's Hang Out: Calling all young adults. On Saturday, July 8th at 6pm, the Young Adults will be meeting up for the Escape Room Experience. Bring some friends and come hang out for a night of fun! Here's how it works!
You wake up in a strange room, with no idea how you got there. What's even more puzzling is that the room is filled with locked boxes, strange doors, and clues that need to be solved if you want to escape. To add to the pressure, a counter ticks down from 60 minutes to 0. Luckily, you're not alone—other players are there to help you solve the puzzles and find a way out of this sudden amnesia without resorting to reading everyone's diary entries from the day before. That's the basic situation behind with the Escape Games. In other scenarios, players search for the identity of a double agent, infiltrate a famous martial-arts dojo, or solve riddles in a room shaped like a human-sized 3D chessboard. All the while, they hope they don't run into one of the dead ends in every room. You'll enjoy this night!! Come hang out with us!!

After a powerful worship encounter, Pastor Merritt began to pour into young people with financial management wisdom and advice. He talked about saving money in your 20's and spending wisely. He then began to express how he never wanted to pastor an impoverished congregation, as he prospered from their giving. When he began the church in 2010, he had envisioned the church having a debt cancellation service. In this service the church would pay off its member's debts. The goal is for tithing members to be blessed with enough money to pay off their debts. Recently, the Lord stirred in him to start making this vision a reality. "That's what God put in me. I was in prayer when the Lord stirred it up and I said 'we're not ready to do it yet... The Lord said to me 'start on the level that you can and work your way up.'" said the Pastor of the 7 year old ministry. Beginning on the 5th Sunday evening in July, a tithing member will walk away from LIFE Church with $1000 to pay off debts. Pastor Merritt stated that this would continue until God says to raise the amount.
Paying off debts will enable the members of LIFE Church to build a better personal financial portfolio. This, along with the quarterly Lunch and Learn Seminars, as well as other financial literacy initiatives will empower the membership of LIFE to not only survive, but to thrive financially. In a day in time when many are walking away from church for various reasons, God is stirring in the heart of Pastors and leaders to ensure that their church is a beacon of light and hope, which is exactly what LIFE Church is.
I reflect on this past Sunday’s Pentecost Celebration, as christians from all over the world joined together in celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit. Many wear white in their celebration ritual. Others sing songs like “The Comforter has Come”, as we did at LIFE Church. We usually hear from Acts 2. However the coming of the Holy Spirit didn’t begin in Acts 2 with the “sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind.” It began with a promise. In Luke 24, Jesus tells His disciples “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” This was the promise that the disciples received and would have to carry in their heart. Here we extract 3 life lessons. If you’ve spent any time in the pentecostal church, you’ve heard of the term tarrying. It is mostly associated with an extensive time of prayer, pleading and asking God for the Holy Ghost. But it simply means to WAIT. Waiting can be one of the most difficult things to do. If you’re like me, and you have moments of anxiety… waiting can be a hard thing to do. Which brings me to our first point. The promise will come to those who [are willing to] wait.
Once God speaks a promise to your life, you must WAIT and remain willing to wait for the manifestation of that promise. Word + Waiting + Manifestation= The pattern of God ... Get used to it. Your prayers won't change it. Your temper tantrums won't change it. Your emotions won't change it. IT'S HIS WILL. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalms 27:14 Waiting in this regard isn’t merely passing time. I equate this wait to a waiter in a restaurant. As a waiter WAITS, he is serving, laboring and is active. This is how we should wait in the Lord. “Serve the Lord with gladness.” Worship the Father. Stay prayerful and fervent. And most of all ANTICIPATE (which is an active word.) Anticipate the manifestation of the Father, and all the lessons that come before it. The scripture in Psalms 27 tells us to “be of good courage” because it is easy to be DISCOURAGED during your waiting process. Don’t become bitter and angry. Don’t allow your thoughts to cause you to doubt God’s promise. Plant yourself and be sure of His word. Let nothing move you in your waiting. |
